DAMAGE NUCLEATION OF CEMENT MORTAR UNDER COMPRESSIVE LOADING
The compressive strength of cement mortar is a very important parameter for designingconcrete materials. The common method for measuring the compressive strength is uniaxialcompressive experiment. Experimental results show that the micro-crack evolution is alwaysin the direction parallel to that of compressive load. By virtue of Eshelbys equivalenlinclusion theory and Mori-Tanakas scheme, the nucleation mechanism of miscro-crack incement mortar is investigated. The results obtained in the present work show that the tensilestress at the surface of microvoids leads to the nucleation of the micro-cracks.
