MICROSTRUCTURE OF HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE UNDER LONG TERM SUSTAINED LOADING
Microstructure of high performance concrete (HPC) samples under various conditions, including curing for l year without loading (HPC-1), sustained loading for 2 years after curedfor 3 days (HPC-2), sustained loading for 2 years after cured for 90 days (HPC-3) werestudied with the methods of SEM. XRD and MIP. The results of SEM and XRD showed thatCa(OH)2 content at interracial transition zone (ITZ) of HPC with fly ash decreased. The peakpore size of the specimens under case 2 and case 3 were smaller than that of specimen withoutloading. Long term sustained loading has serious influence on pore structure of HPC, i.e., theporosity of HPC decreased, volume of smaller pore decreased and volume of macroporeincreased. The application experience of HPC in a large span pre-stressed cable-stayed bridgeof China demonstrated that the good workability of HPC solved the construction problemcaused by complex structure of main pylon and high steel density. Higher early strength andYoungs modulus of HPC provided technique support for stretch-draw of pre-stress.
