EFFECTS OF SINTERING ADDITIVE ON PROPERTIES AND MICROSTRUCTURE OF HIGH-STRENGTH LYTAG IN LOW WATER ABSORPTION
Fly ash used as the main raw materials, incorporated with sintering expansion additive andfluxing additive in different ratio, was sintered high-strength lightweight aggregates of fly ash(Lytag) in the laboratory-controlled electric furnace. The results show that in the sinteringtemperature range of 1250 to 1280 ℃, retaining time of 5 min to 10 min, the bulk density andthe apparent density and 24 h water absorption of Lytag decrease with the increase ofsintering additive and the decrease of the amount of fly ash. The addition of fluxing additivecan significantly enhance the compressive strength of Lytag pellets, reduce its waterabsorption at 24h and improve pore-shape of inner structure. The firing coefficient (Pk) kept agood linear relationship with porosity and strength of Lytag particles.
