STRENGTH, SORPTIVITY, PORE STRUCTURE VARIATION OF CONCRETE SUFFERED ACIDIC ATTACK
Rapid development of industry increased acidic medium concentration in environments, and the concrete durability caused by acidic attack had been paid more attention. In the paper, five acid solutions with different pH values, different SO42- concentrations were prepared tosimulate the attack of acidic rains. The strength variation, sorptivity and pore structure ofconcrete were measured after acidic attack, together with a dry-wet cycle regimen for 150days. Results showed that, after attack of acidic solutions with SO42-, the strength of concretereduced at first, then increased, and reduced at the late attack ages. The types of reactionproducts, forming process, pore structure variation during the corrosive reaction govern theperformance variation of the concrete. Although the porosity of cover concrete becamesmaller after acidic attack with SO42-, its microstructure deteriorated with attacking timeowing to the expansive stress. On the other hand, after the attack of acidic solution withoutSO42, the strength decreased and sorptivity increased, due to the decreased quality of porestructure of cover concrete.
