PRELIMINARY STUDY ON THE HYDRATION BEHAVIORS OF PORTLAND CEMENT BLENDED WITH LIGHT-BURNT DOLOMITE

Light-burnt dolomite was obtained through calcining dolomite in the prearrangetemperature and duration time, which composed of active magnesia and un-decomposedcalcium carbonate. Portland cement and light-burnt dolomite were interground at variousadditions of light-burnt dolomite in the experimental ball mill and result in an cementitiousmaterial. The performances of this cementitious material were investigated by examination ofphysical properties, XRD and SEM methods. The results show that the early strength of thepaste blended with various content of light-burnt dolomite powder is lower that that of theconventional Portland cement paste. The morphology of hydration products were investigatedby means of SEM and XRD techniques.
