The effect of the nanoparticles on the bioelectrode of enzyme-based biofuel cell
There were several technologies to enhance the signal of bioelectrode. One of them was that the nanoparticles were immobilized on the surface of carbon electrode. Effects of carbon nanotubes which could increase the signal of bioelectrode have been studied on biosensor for many years. On the other hand, it has been applied to develop the enzyme-based biofuel cell to improve the current output. To develop dehydrogenase-based biofuel cell, anodes which was immobilized with mediator and nanoparticles including nano-silver particles, nano-gold particles, and multiwail carbon nanotubes oxidized NADH to produce the current. Results showed that all of the modified electrodes treated by using nanoparticles increased the amount of the coulomb. The amount of coulomb of the modified electrodes with the nano-silver particles, the nano-gold particles, and multiwall carbon nanotubes was increased by 430 %, 170 %, and 42.4 % of coulomb, respectively.
