KINETICS ANALYSIS ON PYROLYSIS OF ELEPHANT GRASS
The pyrolysis kinetics of elephant grass in nitrogen flow, regarded as a new energy crop, had been carried out by thermogravimetric analysis instrument at five different heating rates and 903K of final temperature. Results show that the pyrolysis process of elephant grass is mainly composed of three stages, namely dehydration-preheating, main pyrolysis, and carbonization, which is similar to traditional biomasss. In 500K-650K of main pyrolysis there are two obvious peaks of weight loss, which is close to 70%. Based on the thermogravimetric test, Popescu method has been used to carry out kinetics calculation concerning pyrolysis of elephant grass. The mechanism function of elephant grass in the stage of main pyrogenation accords with Avrami-Erofeev equation, the values of reaction order is from 1.5 to 4, and activation energy is 190-219 kJ/mol.
