Operational Characteristics of a 1.2 MW Biomass Gasification & Power Generation Plant
The operational characteristics of a 1.2 MW rice husk gasification & power generation plant located in Changxing, Zhejiang province, China are analyzed. The influences of gasification temperature, equivalence ratio (ER), feeding rate and water content in rice husk on gasification characteristics in a fludized bed gasifier are mainly investigated. The axial profile of temperature in dense phase of the gasifier shows that there exists inadequate fluidization inside the bed and the temperature is closely related to the change of ER and feeding rate. The bed temperature increases linearly with increasing ER when feeding rate is kept constant, while higher feeding rate corresponds to lower bed temperature at fixed ER. The gas heating value decreases with increasing temperature, while the feeding rate has little effect on it. When the gasification temperature is at 700-800℃, the gas heating value ranges from 5450 to 6400 kJ/Nm3. The water content in rice husk has obvious influence on the operation of the gasifier: when it is lower than 15%, the increase of it favors for increasing ER and gas yield; however, when it is higher than 15%, the gasifier will be out of control with aberrant temperature fluctuations. The problems existing in the plant are presented based on the operational experience of MW-scale biomass gasification and power generation plants.
