Bio-hydrogen Production from Wheat Straw by Anaerobic Fermentation
Conversion of wheat straw into hydrogen by anaerobic fermentation was studied in this paper. Three pretreatment methods for preparing fermentable substrates from wheat straw were compared. Batch tests were carried out to investigate some influence factors, such as bacteria cultivation method and PH value, on bio-hydrogen production from NaOH-pretreated wheat straw. The maximum hydrogen production rate of 0.58mL/h.gTS was obtained in anaerobic fermentation with PH value of 6, when the NaOH-pretreated wheat straw was inoculated with the cultivated H2-production bacteria originated from the boiled digested sludge.
