RESEARCH ON THE PREPARATION OF ENERGY-STROAGE MATERIAL USING BIODIESEL-BYPRODUCT GLYCEROL
Glycerol is a byproduct ofbiodiesel production. Using glycerol to make phase-change energy storage (PCES) material is a good option to increase the economic value ofbiodiesel chain and meanwhile make contribution to energy savings in building sector. This article analyses the glycerol properties which is considered to be able to play important role in making PCES material. The composite PCES material with porous skeleton was successfully made in our Lab by using glycerol and 1,6-hexandiols as base feedstocks. The analysis experiments were made in terms of melting point, the heat of fusion, thermal stability and microstructure. The results show that the composite PCES material with porous skeleton has reasonable transformation temperature, high latent heat and good thermal stability, and can be employed in energy-saving buildings.
