Effect of Influence Factors on Activity of SPS and Stalk Brix of Sweet Sorghum
In this study, several varieties of sweet sorghum were used to investigate the effect of various conditions on the activity of SPS in the seedlings and brix of the grown-up stalk, and the change rules of the brix of whole plant. The results showed that: The activity of SPS in the seedlings was restrained significantly by high level concentration of NaCl. The utilization of N, P or K enhanced the activity of SPS. Under salinity conditions, the application of moderate N, P or K significantly remitted the inhibition induced by NaCl stress, respectively; The demand of nutrients type and amount for the highest stalk brix varied between Tianza No.2 and Liaotian No. I. The utilization of nitrogenous and phosphate benefitted to Tianza No.2, Liaotian No.1 demanded more nitrogenous and potassium sulfate to improve its brix degree of the stalk; The brix of stalk increased along with the postponed sowing time. In order to balance the fresh weight and brix of stalk, the optimal sowing time to give attention to both biomass production and stalk brix was in early May; The values of brixes in the 4th, 5th , and 6th intemodes from the top of stalk were the highest, whereas that of the 1st internodes was the lowest in the four varieties. For the whole plant level, the brix degree in each internodes from the top of stalk to the bottom presented as a second-degree parabola.
