Currently, petroleum price in the international market has climbed to 130 dollars per barrel. The high price will bring deadly harm to Chinese economy development. In this urgent energy situation, China must find economical substitutes for petroleum products, and ethanol production from sugarcane appears particularly attractive and maybe an effective approach.
