Jatropha Biodiesel Research and Development in China
As a most potential candidate of green renewable energy plants Jatropha curcas is attracting more and more eye-sights from many countries. The high oil content and ability to tolerant lean and dry environment makes it not only the one of the cheapest feedstock of bio-diesel but also a kind of excellent ecological environment protection species. The School of Life Science is one of the earliest departments founded in Sichuan University with a history of more than 80 years from the very beginning. Her subjects include the life science, the base of the modern nature science, and biotechnology which occupies the front line in modem high technology, as well as the application in agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, sanitation, and environment protection. Since the end of last century, our group began to work on jatropha and taken on many national and state key projects about jatropha curcas plantation and procession.
