QUERY EXPANSION IN CHINESE SCIENTIFIC PAPERS COMBINED WITH PHRASE DICTIONARY AND INFORMATION EXTRACT

Query Expansion is often used to reduce word mismatch between query and related documents. In this paper, we present a novel query expansion aimed to expend queries in the search of scientific papers. In a given scientific paper, there must be some correlated domains and techniques. We extract words representing the domains or techniques from the titles, abstracts and key words of the papers. The words appearing in the same paper have correlation. So we can get a certain number of correlated words, when a query is given. Then we use a Phrase Dictionary and the first searched texts to compute relevance between the words and the query, and select the best one.
