DYNAMIC EXPRESSION BASED ON AFFECTEXPRESSION SPACE MODEL FOR A MASCOT-TYPE FACIAL ROBOT

Although many researchers have tried to find out the bases of emotion, there is still no conclusion about that question. However, it is necessary to establish the bases of emotion since they could be adapted to control facial expressions of robots effectively. This paper introduces a dynamic emotion model and a linear model to define a linear affect space, which is based on the six basic emotional expressions of a mascot-type robot. We define a linear expressional space and attempt to determine which affect space is suitable for the facial robot. A linear model is built up regarding relations between affects and facial expressions. And we applied the dynamic emotion model to the obtained affect space. This paper demonstrates an effective method of dynamic emotional expressions with a linear dynamic affect-expression model.
