Improved Centroid Localization Algorithm in WSNs

Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)are more andmore widely used in many different scenarios.Thelocalization information is an important criterion forthe capability of WSNs.Centroid algorithm is aclassical range-free localization algorithm.Afterreceiving the anchor nodes,a node estimates itslocation using the centroid formula.But the set of theasymmetrical anchor nodes distributed around theunknown node may incur large error,and willjeopardize the localization precision.In order to solvethe problem,we propose a Centroid algorithm withselective anchor node localization algorithm(SA-Centroid)for WSNs in this paper.The trianglecentroid and polygon centroid were used and themethod of selecting nearest anchor node was adopted.The experiment results illustrate that our algorithm isvalid and effective.
