Analysis of the Differences among Public Aid Activities of Citizens in Public Crisis in China
As an important way for public participation in public crisis management, public aid plays a crucial role in crisis rescue and post-disaster recovery.Based on data collected by questionnaires,an empirical research on the correlations between public aid activities and demographic characteristics of citizens in China has been conducted in terms of first-aid on site, donation, and volunteer involvement. The result shows that different demographic characteristics of citizen groups have significant influences on the public aid activities.Male are amore active than female on first-aid on site and volunteer involvement, youngsters are much less active than older ones on nearly all aspects,well-educated citizens are not active and positive as they were expected, farmers are the most active ones on volunteer activities, and citizens with higher income are more generous on donation. Thus,to improve the public aid situation, further researches should focus on aspects of promoting on-site rescue, donation, and volunteer involvement while differences among public groups being properly considered.
