Innovative Strategies for Market Leadership: The Case of Vodacom-Tanzania

Whether a firm is the first or second to enter a market,it has to compete to win market share and maintain its position or out compete its rivals.Therefore firms need to be innovative all the time to discover new strategies so as to win more market share and realize more profit.This paper examines market leadership in the telephone industry in Tanzania.There are five telephone operators in the market (TCRA,2007).Of all the five telephone operators Vodacom-Tanzania has acquired market leadership and is firmly maintaining its position in the country.The paper examines Vodacoms innovative strategies and its success at the expense of other operators in the industry.
