Evaluating the Capability of Product Innovation Management:An Exploratory Investigation on Hi-tech Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Shenzhen

摘要：

This research is an exploratory study to evaluate the capability of product innovation management (PIM) in the Chinese context.Based on previous literature and our practical understanding,two frameworks are develop-Structured Product Innovation Management Model (SPIMM) and Innovation Capability Maturity Model (ICMM),and then apply them to hi-tech small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Shenzhen by using a survey method.The empirical result shows that the PIM capability of most of these enterprises is mainly located in the transition period from level I to level II.The challenge to these companies is to effectively master the methods and tools in PIM so as to move up to higher capability levels,towards world-class.
