INFLUENCE ON PERMEABILITY OF STRAIN HARDENING CEMENTITIOUS COMPOSITES BY WATER REPELLENT TREATMENT

Lower tensile strength and worse toughness of cementitious composites is thedominant reason of incidental crack and deterioration of durability for reinforced concrete(RC) structures. The experimental results indicate that high elastic modules Polyvinyl Alcohol(PVA) Fiber can enhance the ductility of the cementitious composites and present to be strainhardening and multiple cracks. Saline superficial water repellent treatment can improve theperformance of waterproof and anticorrosion of new concrete structures. Because ofprevention or delay deterioration, the durability and service time of concrete structures will beameliorated. In this paper, capillary suction test was carried out to investigate the influence onpermeability of strain hardening cementitious composites (SHCC) by water repellenttreatment. The results show that saline water repellent agent can improve the anti-permeability of SHCC markedly. Consequently,SHCC can be permanent formwork or highdurable repair material for the old construction.
