FAILURE PROBABILITY ANALYSIS OF STEEL CORROSION INDUCED BY CHLORIDE INGRESS AND CARBONIZATION FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE IN MARINE ENVIRONMENT

Probability models of Chloride ingress and concrete carbonization are put forthrespectively. Failure probability of steel corrosion induced by chloride ingress are comparedwith that induced by concrete carbonization,which takes into accounts positions of structure,distance from coastline and concrete quality. It is shown that failure probability induced bychloride ingress is much more than that by concrete carbonization. Distance from coastlineand concrete quality are also important factors on failure probability of durability. Effect ofconcrete carbonization is increasing with distance from coastline being long or concretequality being poor.
