LOAD BEARING BEHAVIOR OF CFRP GRID LOCATED AT THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN SPRAYED MOTAR AND EXISTING CONCRETE

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics grids are excellent in tensile strength andcorrosion resistance. In recent years,a retrofitting method using a CFRP grid and sprayedpolymer cement mortar has been adopted for the purpose of recovering or increasing thefunction of existing reinforced concrete structures. This retrofitting method has been mainlyadopted for increasing the flexural capacity of a slab by attaching a CFRP grid to its bottom, but its effect on the shear behavior of existing members has not been fully elucidated. In this study, specimens were prepared in consideration of the intervals of CFRP grids, thetypes of CFRP reinforcement, the roughness of concrete surfaces, and the treatment ofconcrete surfaces. The shear resisting behavior was examined by measuring the strains ofCFRP,and the coefficients were proposed considering the degree of influence of each factorfor the retrofitting method. From the test results,it is clarified that the relationship between the shear bond strength andthe roughness of concrete surface, which are modified using the adequate coefficientconsideration for each factor, can be expressed by a linear function. It is also found that thestiffness of the CFRP grid is an important factor of the shear bond behavior between sprayedmortar and the existing reinforced concrete structure.
