FLEXURAL CAPACITY OF CORROSION-DAMAGED RC BEAMS
A model of the flexural capacity of the corroded reinforced concrete (RC) beam ispresent. In this model,degradation of the properties of the materials and deterioration of bondbetween concrete and rebar are considered. According to the equilibrium equations at thecross section of beam and the compatibility of deformation of the rebar and concrete,thedifferential equation of the axial action of the longitudinal bar is established. The boundarycondition of bond-slip action and the continuous boundary conditions of rebar axial force inthe above differential equation are given. Limit states,with both concrete crush and rebaryield,of the bending failure of the beam are defined. The model is verified by comparing theexperimental data,and the calculation results are in good accordant with the experimentalresults. At last,the influences of diameter of the longitudinal tension bar,yield strength of thelongitudinal tension bar,concrete cover thickness and concrete compression strength on theflexural capacity of the corroded RC beam are analyzed.
