A STUDY ON DURABILITY OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES UNDER THE COMPLEX DETERIORATION CONDITION DUE TO ACID RAIN AND CARBONATION

Recently,a complex deterioration due to plural deterioration factors has been posedas one of the serious problems in RC structures. However the effect of complex deteriorationhas been not cleared,especially as for concrete using ground granulated blast-furnace slag(GGBS) which,in Japan,commonly has been applied in coastal environment. In this study,the experimental examinations on the deterioration due to each/both acid rainand carbonation were carried out by accelerated tests using mortar specimens with severalcontents of the GGBS. As the results,by using GGBS without suitable initial curing,neutralization depth and corrosion area of re-bar tends to increase. Consequently,it wasconfirmed quantitatively that not only the content of GGBS but also the initial curing periodhad the influence on the durability of concrete using GGBS as mineral admixture under thecomplex deterioration condition.
