THE EVALUATION OF DURABILITY OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES IN MARINE ENVIRONMENT

The corrosion of reinforcing steel is one of the most significant causes ofdeterioration of reinforced concrete structures in marine environment. In this paper,theevaluation models of bearing capacity,reliability and durable life are introduced. A newmethod to measure the corrosion of reinforcing steel is proposed based on the optical fibersensing technology. Thus the corrosion rate of reinforcing steel can be monitoring by the fiberoptic sensor embedded in concrete for marine structures.The corrosion rate of reinforcingsteel can be updated based on the monitoring results.The programming on the evaluation ofdurability of concrete structures in marine environment is made using MATLAB language,sothat the beating capacity,the reliability and the service life of marine concrete structures canbe assessed accurately.
