RESEARCH ON THE STRESS-STRAIN CURVE OF CORRODED CONCRETE IN UNIAXIAL COMPRESSION
The strength and deformation capacity of concrete will deteriorate due to theerrosive materials in the environment, such as salts, acid, and microorganism. Uniaxialcompression tests were made to develop the stress-strain model for the corroding concrete.According to the experimental results, compared to the normal concrete, the mechanicalproperties of corroded concrete, such as peak strength,Youngs modulus, and residualdeformation, are degraded. The propagation of random distributed pre-existing flaws due tothe corrosive effects in the environment is the main reason of degradation of mechanicalproperty of corroded concrete. By applying the statistic theory of continuum damage, such asWeibull distribution function,we simulated the compressive stress-strain curve of corrodedconcrete. The initial damage factor was introduced to represent the corrosive effects ofdifferent materials. The present damage constitutive model agreed well with the test results.
