CL- PRECIPITATING CHARACTERISTICS IN MORTARS UNDER NATURAL DIFFUSION CONDITION

The precipitating characteristics of chloride ion in mortars with mineral admixturesuch as ground granular blast furnace slag and fly ash were investigated by experimentallytesting the Cl content precipitating in different positions of samples under simulating naturaldiffusion condition. Results indicated that the Cl precipitation content in mortar wasinfluenced remarkably by addition of mineral admixture. Addition of fly ash or groundgranular blast furnace slag into mortar could decrease the amount of Cl precipitating insurface layer zone of mortar and increase dramatically the attenuation velocity of Cl contentwith distance from surface. The Cl precipitation content in mortars with or without mineraladmixtures increased greatly with the increasing immersion age. Strong physically absorbedrole and chemical reaction between Cl and hydration products, unhydrated particles and porenet of samples occurred at later age.
