STUDY ON TENSILE CREEP OF HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE AT EARLY AGES
This paper presents an experimental investigation on tensile creep behavior of HPCat early ages. The primary parameters studied were the water to cement ratio (0.30,0.40,0.50),the age at loading (0.5 days,0.75 days,1 day,3 days,7 days),and stress/strength ratio (20%,30%,40%). A tensile basic creep testing apparatus was developed. The loading system cankeep the applying stress constant and uniformly distributed in the cross-section of specimens. The measurement devices can measure the applied loads and tensile strains with requiredaccuracy and reliability. The investigation showed that: (1) A particularly high magnitude oftensile creep strain was observed when concrete was loaded at 1 day and 1 day before, and thecreep rate decreased dramatically after a short initial time under load. (2) Tensile creep wasnot proportional to applied stress when the loading age is 1 day before, and the higher initialstress/strength ratio, the larger specific creep strain and creep rate. However,it appearedcharacteristic of linearity when concrete was loaded at 1 day,3days and 7 days. (3) For thesame loading age and same initial stress/strength ratio of applied load, the higher the W/Cratio the larger specific creep, and the difference is more significant when load was appliedearlier.
