A PRACTICAL MODEL TO PREDICT CARBONATION DEPTH OF CONCRETE
Water-cement ratio, cement content,CO2 concentration, environment temperatureand relative humidity have been proved to be the most important factors influencing thecarbonation of concrete. On the basis of the prediction mathematical model of concretecarbonation depth, proposed by Zhang et al.,a practical prediction model was developed toconsider the influence of environment temperature and the relative humidity (RH). Theefficiency and applicability of the model were verified by carbonation investigation results ofconcrete structures in natural conditions. The comparison results between theorecticalprediction and in situ investigation show that the model is suitable to predict the carbonationdepth of Portland cement concrete structures in general atmosphere conditions.
