EFFECT OF MECHANICAL LOADING ON CHLORIDE PENETRATION INTO CONCRETE

In this paper, the durability of concrete under simultaneous action of load and theenvironment of chloride has been researched based on optimizing the material of highperformance concrete before. The chloride content and the coefficient of water absorption ofconcrete under different load levels have been measured and analyzed under the condition ofbeing soaked in distilled water and chloride solution respectively. There are also mechanicalproperties and other indexes evaluated the influence of complex factors on the properties ofconcrete. Generally,it indicates that a moderate compressive load reduces the coefficient ofcapillary suction and chloride penetration, while both of them are enhanced by highermechanical loads as micro-cracks are developed further. The experimental results also suggestthat more attention should he paid on the combined mechanical and environmental actions thereal concrete structure suffered and the synergetic influences have to be taken intoconsideration.
