EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE CHLORIDE PERMEABILITY OF RECYCLED AGGREGATE CONCRETE

As a kind of new building material, recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) isgradually being applied to structure. The chloride impermeability of RAC plays an importantrole in the evaluation and design of the durability of concrete structures. In this paper, thechloride ion permeability of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) containing 100% recycledcoarse aggregate (RCA) is investigated experimentally. Seven mixes of concrete with targetcube compressive strength ranging from 20 Mpa to 40 MPa were cast using recycled ornormal coarse aggregate. Special attention of the analysis is devoted to the contrast ofchloride penetration of RAC and normal aggregate concrete (NAC),and the relationshipbetween chloride permeability and the compressive strength of RAC. The test results showthat the chloride impermeability of RAC increases with the growth of the compressive ofconcrete, and the penetration of chloride ion of RAC is nearly similar to that of normalaggregate concrete.
