A Novel Laser with Tunable and Stable Degree of Polarization
The authors demonstrate a novel laser with tunableand stable degree of polarization (DOP).It concludes apolarization beams separator (PBS) and a double-orientationfiber-ring resonator,which is composed of a semiconductoroptical amplifier (SOA),a polarization controller (PC) and a2X2 wide-band fiber coupler.By adjusting the PC or the inputcurrent of the SOA,the average DOP in time out of the laservaries optionally from 0.16% to 99%.Employing thedouble-orientation ring resonator structure and PBSpolarization combination method,DOP of the laser can be keptstably at any level in the adjustable range.
