Simulation on Retrieving of Atmospheric Wet Path Delay by Microwave Radiometer on HY-2 Satellite
HY-2 satellite is a new ocean-oriented satellitewhich is to monitor the dynamic ocean environment withmicrowave sensors to detect sea surface wind field, sea surfaceheight and sea surface temperature. In order to correct altimeterpath delay due to atmosphere, there is an microwaveradiometer (ACMR) planned to be installed in the samesatellite.ACMR is a three-band nadir-sounding passivemicrowave radiometer, which operates at 18.7,23.8,and37.0GHz.In this paper, principles on retrieving of atmosphericwet path delay are firstly introduced, and then algorithms arederived for ACMR retrieving wet path delay using simulatedoceanic brightness temperatures by a great variety ofocean-atmosphere database. The retrievals are tested by thoseground truths from the database, and the retrieval errors areevaluated.
