Time-Domain Analog Front-End for UWB WLAN Transform-Domain Receiver

This paper addresses the problem of the time-domaindirect-sequence front-end for transform-domain ultra-wideband(UWB) wireless local area network (WLAN) receiver.Theproposed architecture comprises a single-ended voltagevoltagedynamic feedback low-noise amplifier (LNA),quadrature mixer, and baseband filter. The dynamic feedbackwith inductive output load reduces the LNA to a simplesecond-order filter, with zero at the origin, while improving theconversion gain (CG),noise figure (NF).Thus, the CG isfurther maximized when limiting the two poles within the 5-6GHzfrequency band. The mixer, based on a mergedquadrature topology, employs single-peak notch network, withbenefits to the CG,NF,and IIP3.The front-end,drawing I 0,9mA form i.Sv,achieves at 5.6GHz34.8dB conversion gain,12.1dB noise figure, and 1-dB gaindesensitization with -8dBm intefferer power at 7GHz.Othersimulation results are -2.35dBm minimum IIIP3,and -35dBcrejection at the UWB groups #1 and #3.
