Distributed Fiber Optic In-Line Intrusion Sensor System
A novel fiber optic in-line distributed sensor systemfor location of an intrusion is proposed.A 3dB coupler and aFaraday rotation mirror fiRM) are employed to form aninterferometer. There are two light paths that have the sameoptical length but travel different sequence paths in theinterferometer. These two paths pass through the intrusionpoint at different time,so the phase difference is existent.Afterinterference,a fast Fourier transform (FFT) is applied on theoutput signal to obtain the phase angle in the double intrusionfrequency. And then the position of the intrusion point can bedetermined.Simulation results show that this fiber optic in-linedistributed sensor system can locate the intrusion point at adistance of 40 kin, with the deviation no more than 130m,andthe relative error is 0.32%.
