A Scheme of Yielding Tunable Millimeter-Wave Based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering
We demonstrate a tunable light-wave tomillimeter-wave converting system based on optical side bandheterodyne and Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in a fibersystem composed of a DFB laser,a dual-electrode externalMach-Zehnder modulator (MZM),a pumping laser,asingle-mode fiber and a photo-detector.The MZM ismodulated by a baseband digital signal in one arm and by amicrowave in another arm to generate multiple side modesaround the central wavelength. One of the side modes isamplified by SBS gain caused by the pump laser so that theheterodyne in photo-detector yields a baseband-modulatedmillimeter wave tunable by the pump laser.
Millimeter-wave photonic frequency up-conversion radio-over-fiber(RoF) system Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) dual-electrode Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM).
