SAR Imaging Simulation for an Inhomogeneous Undulated Lunar Surface Based on Triangulated Irregular Network
Based on the statistics of the lunar cratered terrain,e.g.population,dimension and shape of craters, the terrainfeature of cratered lunar surface is numerically generated.According to inhomogeneous distribution of the lunar surfaceslope, the triangulated irregular network is employed to makethe digital elevation of lunar surface model. The Kirchhoffapproximation of rough surface scattering is then applied tosimulation of lunar surface scattering. The synthetic apertureradar (SAR) image for comprehensive cratered lunar surfacesis numerically generated.Making use of the digital elevationand Ciementine UVVIS data at Apollo 15 landing site as theground truth,an SAR image at Apollo 15 landing site issimulated.
