Application of the Least Square Method in the Plane Wave Synthesis Technique

A novel method of plane wave synthesis is presentedwith the application of the Least Square Method in the planewave synthesis technique.With the linear array made up of theinfinitely long current filament as the theoretical model ofplane wave synthesis,the novel method is used to seekoptimum amplitude and phase distribution of array element soas to make the uniform degree of the amplitude and phase ofquasi-plane wave synthesized to be the best.The calculationresults show that in the case that the size of the region undertest remains unvaried,the method presented in this paperrequires smaller probe array than the traditional methods inorder to ensure the quality of quasi-plane wave synthesized,which proves the correctness and validity of the novel method.
