Surface Modes in a Hollow Optical Fiber Including Negative Refraction Index
Surface modes in a hollow optical fiber arediscussed.The fiber is made of right-handed material core andleft-handed material cladding.Through using Maxwellsequations,some dispersion equations for TE,TM,EH and HEsurface modes are obtained.According to these characteristicequations,as the absolute value of the refraction index in thecladding is larger than that in the core,some dispersion curvesfor different surface modes are plotted,respectively.Then,these curves are analyzed and some new characteristics ofsurface modes in the LHM hollow fiber are discovered.
