Monopole Antenna Design Using a Genetic Algorithm with Dual-Band and Wideband Operations
A novel dual-band design of a microstrip-fedmonopole antenna designed by double population geneticalgorithm (DPGA) is proposed.The antenna is analyzed byusing the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method.Thesimulated results by CST MWS show good dual-bandoperation,with impedance bandwidths of 2.13-2.9 GHz and4.17-7.05 GHz,respectively,suitable for applications to the2.4/5.2/5.8-GHz WLAN communication systems.In addition,similar monopole-like radiation patterns and antenna gainsover the operating bands have been obtained.
