Coverage-Oriented Reliability and Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Network
Sensing connectivity and sensor coverage in sensornetworks are two fundamental issues,which have beenextensively addressed in the literature.The reliability ofwireless sensor networks (WSN) depends on both networkconnectivity and sensing coverage.Most existing work onsensing coverage has focused on the full coverage problem.However,in some application scenarios,full coverage is eitherimpossible or unnecessary and a partial coverage with a certaindegree guarantee is acceptable.In this paper,we present ahexagon tessellation sensor network model with roleassignment scheme and estimate the coverage-orientedreliability (COR) and lifetime distribution by employing aMonte Carlo scheme.We then present an algorithm whichtakes into account the partial coverage and energy consumptionsimultaneously.
