A Comparative Study on Performance of Combining Methods for Half-Duplex Three-Node Cooperative Diversity Wireless Network

This paper analysis the performance of the ad-hocnetwork with a base station,a mobile and a third station actingas a relay.Three combining methods for the Amplifyand-Forward(AF) protocol and the Decode-and-Forward (DF)protocol are compared.Simulations indicate that theAmplify-and-Forward(AF)protocol beats theDecode-and-Forward (DF) protocol under all these threecombining methods.To combine the incoming signals thechannel quality should be estimated as well as possible,moreestimation accuracy requires more resource.A very simplecombining method can obtain the performance compared withthat by optimal combining methods approximately.Thisindicates the implementation of cooperative diversity in futurewireless network.All these three combining methods for bothdiversity protocols can achieve the maximum diversity order.
