Research on Correction and Optimization Tone Reproduction Curve of LCD

In order to optimize the tone response curve of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) to enhance visual effect of the image, an automatic Gamma correction system was established. Through contrasting the actual tone reproduction curve with the target curves, progressive modification was made to the Digital Look-up table in the driving circuit of the LCD, so that the actual curve would constantly approach the target one. Experimental results showed that the tone response curve was in accord with the models pre-established. Piecewise function made most luminance levels of image clear displayed and the average luminance increase more than 50 percents to power-law function.
