Development on autonomous flapping micro air vehicle
INTRODUCTIONOur MAV team has developed one of the most efficientand multi-functional flapping vehicles since 2005 suchas bio-mimetic wing,vision control flapping vehicle,take-off and landing capability and x-wing flappingmechanism.As the improvement brought in flightperformance through optimization and modification onflapping mechanism,new attempts on developingautonomous flapping vehicle were made throughvarious control method.This study is to develop amechanical flapping micro air vehicle which canexecute an indoor mission autonomously.Moreover,three different ways of auto-controlling flappingmechanisms are introduced,programmed flight,GCSbased auto-control and attitude control algorithm.Yetthere are many things to be considered in auto controlof flapping vehicle such as vibration isolation,sensorbased auto control and improving reliability,basicprinciples and further guidelines to the fullyautonomous control on flapping vehicle were obtainedthrough this research.
