TIME-DOMAIN SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION MODELLING FOR A SMALL SCALE HELICOPTER
INTRODUCTIONHelicopter dynamics is tremendously more complexcompared to that of the fred wing aircraft.Mainrotor and tail rotor act simultaneously as controlsurfaces and generators of forces and moments, causing helicopters more difficult to control.A smallscale helicopter is even more difficult to handlecompared to its full-scale counterparts.Scaling downthe helicopter reduces the damping quality of thehelicopter. Therefore it tends to increase vehiclessensitivity to gusts and other disturbances. However, due to their ability for hovering and agilemanoeuvring, small scale helicopters are becomingfavourable aerial robotics for different missions. Many applications such as crop dusting, aerialtopdressing, hydro dressing for agricultural utilityand several other applications like reconnaissance, filming and patrolling can be successfully achievedby small scale helicopters.
