Design of Square-Loop Frequency Selective Surfaces Utilize C-band Radar Stations

This research proposes to utilize square-loop Frequency selective surface (FSS) in a radar station to increase the efficiency of communication systems andInthe same time protect the staff and people against biological effects of C-band microwave radiation. In a radar station, waves propagate inundetermined directions and different frequency ranges which can effect on health of staff and people who work inindoor environment near to radar antenna. Microwave radiation increases temperature of explosive material and interferes with wireless local area network (WLAN). Designed FSS not only reduces the specific absorption rate (SAR) of staff and people hut also decreases the possibility of explosion and interference inWLAN system. The designed FSS transfers signals less than 2GHz almost without any attenuation. This frequency range uses by mobile cell phones (950 MHz and 1800MHz),TV,radio and many wireless communication systems. The FSS is simulated by CST Microwave Studio for different incidence angle to confirm their ability. To check the conformity of results and theory,FSS was modeled by an equivalent circuit.
