Study on Application of Water-Soluble PVA Fiber in Base Paper for Textile Paper Yarn
In the selection of new weaving materials,the base paper for textile paper yarn must have characteristics of low specific surface area(about 16g/m2),high dry and wet strength,and scrub-enduring ability,etc.The water-soluble PVA fiber has many unique properties,which can satisfy the demand of base paper for textile paper yarn.The water-soluble PVA fiber can be re-dissolved by nature in a short time.It is a friendly product to environment as well.In this paper,water-soluble PVA fiber was used as a novel reinforcer in base paper for textile paper yam.The configuration,chemical,and physical characteristics,as well as applicability in wet-lay papermaking was studied.The functional mechanisms related to PVA fiber use also were deduced.The method of pretreatment of the water-soluble PVA fiber,the procedure for refining,the ratio of fiber types,the pulp consistency,sheet-making conditions,dispersant choose and dosage were studied through extensive experimentation,making good use of advanced apparatus.Based on this study,the optimum technique for water-soluble PVA fiber in base paper for textile paper yarn is as follows: temperature of water-soluble fiber 60℃,fiber length 4mm,fiber denierl.3 dtex,strength 4 cN/dtex.The rotating degree is a two-stage refining process; it is treated with 3500 revolutions of PFI mill after it mixed with soft wood pulp,using a refining clearance of 0.2 mm,and a pulp concentration is 10％.The proper dosage of water-soluble PVA fibers is 2.0％,dispersant PEO is 0.07％,and the drying temperature is 70～75℃.Under these conditions,the physical properties of the paper: tensile index is improved 9.33％,wet tensile index is improved 16.74％,tearing index is improved 3.61％,and folding strength is improved 82.50％.It was shown that water-soluble PVA fibers could be used as an effective reinforcement in base paper for textile paper yarn.
