Study on Making Tobacco Sheets Using Fennel Stem
Fennel stem contains efficient health protection components, and no nicontine. Thus tobacco sheets which are made from fennel stems rather than traditional tobacco are more conducive to human health. In this paper, the technology of making tobacco sheets from fennel stems and the method to dispel miscellaneous smell produced in the tobacco sheets making process were studied. The results indicated that the optimal cooking time for fennel stems was 4 hours,at cooking temperature 100℃.If the temperature was too high, the tobacco sheets would contain more miscellaneous smell when ignited. If the cooking time was not long enough, the surface picking of handmade sheets would be serious. After the cooking pretreatment, the material(fennel stem)was milled in high temperature by high consistency refiner so that the material can preserve favorable plasticity and turn into pulp easily.Based on the data of power consumption and tensile strength of the sheets, the suitable beating degree was found to be 50°SR and its corresponding refining clearance was 0.15mm.Medulloceils were the main reason of miscellaneous smell when the tobacco sheets were ignited,so fennel stems were adequately washed in order to remove medullocells.
