Study on Ink Absorption of Coated Paper

摘要：

Ink absorption is one of the most important factors influencing the printability of coated paper,and it can be improved by optimizing coating formulations or coating technologies.Factors influencing ink absorption of coated paper,including pigment blends,binder dosage,pH level and drying conditions were studied in this paper.Coating surface topography and porosity based on different coating formulations were studied by SEM scanning.The results showed that ink absorption was markedly influenced by pigment type and physical structure; K&N value was improved with the increase of GCC portion.High latex content can decrease K&N value,but sheet gloss and printing gloss were improved.High pH value contributed to high K&N value.Infrared drying and hot air drying has different influence on K&N value.Compared with hot air drying,infrared drying affected the K & N value more lenitively.
