Comparing Tinting Pigment and Fluorescent Whiting Agent on Their Effects in Whiteness and Shade Adjusting in Paper Coating
This article mainly compared the effect of whiten paper and shade adjusting between tinting pigment and fluorescent whiting agent(FWA)on coated paper.Tinting pigments have the advantages of good coveting capacity,low expenditure of materials,and good resistance to transference,light and atmosphere.In this article,the advantages and disadvantages of FWA and tinting pigments were investigated.And CIE whiteness and Hunter whiteness were also introduced.In the experiment the dosages of tinting pigment and FWA were 20-100ppm and 75-6000ppm respectively.The result showed that the tinting pigment which had the advantage of less dosage could replace FWA if the request of whiteness is not very high.But it couldnt compare favorably with FWA if the request of whiteness is high.As to shade adjustment,the range of tinting pigment is wider.If high quality papers were produced,its better to add FWA to whiten paper and tinting pigment to adjust shade.
